Connecting With Other Homeschoolers

Do you need a little support from other homeschoolers sometimes?  I have found a great community of homeschoolers online as well as locally.  Today I am sharing how to find and connect with other homeschoolers and build a support network.  Homeschooling is not easy and sometimes we need as much help as we can get. On those days that I need a little encouragement, I will sometimes turn to my online community to get unbiased opinions, encouragement and advice.

There are tons of online resources to help connect and support homeschoolers.  Here are a few I have found that I enjoy:

The Homeschool Lounge– this is an online forum with tons of groups to connect people. There are local state groups as well as groups for homeschooling boys, kindergartners, those using various curriculum, etc.  It is a great place to go to get advice, support, and ideas.

Cafe Mom– this is similar to The Homeschool Lounge, but has groups for all moms, not just homeschoolers.  There are groups just related to homeschooling, though.

Yahoo Groups have tons of homeschool support groups from your style of homeschooling, the curriculum you use, and the state where you live.  This is where I found local groups, friends and activities.  It has been a huge help for me!

Blogs and Facebook communities are also a great way to find support.  There are so many wonderful homeschool blogs.  There are tons of Facebook groups for homeschoolers. Just search for homeschooling or homeschooling in your area and you will be surprised by what you find!

Need advice on curriculum?  Here are some of my favorite go-to sites for researching curriculum:

Never feel like you are alone out there!  There are so many other families going through the same difficulties that you are.  If you have questions, doubts, concerns, issues… just ask!
