My Memories Giveaway & Tutorial

I was excited to be contacted by My Memories Suite to host a review and a giveaway here for my readers.  It is always so much fun for me to be able to give back to you guys.  I had heard of this scrapbooking software program before, but never used it.  Let me just tell you... I have been having fun!  Make sure to enter below- also there is a great discount code for those who don't win.

My Memories Suite Version 3  is a digital scrapbooking software. It is a fun and creative way to keep and share memories. It can be used on a Mac or PC.  The software's design tools will help you to build entire albums effortlessly using one of the many installed templates, or designing your very own pages from scratch.  The software includes many templates, but there are also tons more available on the website.  There is a large section of free products available, too.

The software is not just for scrapbooking- I have never been a scrapbooker.  There are so many other uses for it.  You can do photo editing, adding embellishments & text to photos, calendars, cards, slide shows, videos, etc.

I decided to make a new blog header for my family blog to show here.  A blog header is really a simple thing to put together in My Memories.  I also used My Memories to make my I-Spy Photos that I shared yesterday.

Here is a brief tutorial for making your own blog header:

When you open the My Memories software it gives you the option of using one of their templates, or creating your own.  I chose to create my own for this project.

Then it asks you what size you want to make your project.  If you click on custom size it brings you to a choice where you choose the size.  You can use inches or pixels at this point.  I switch it to pixels because I know what size my image needs to be in pixels.  My header is 1000 x 650- this size varies & may need a little experimenting before you get yours just right.

Then it brings you to a blank canvas where you can edit it as you like.  I added in my family photo that I wanted to use first.  Then I chose a background paper.  There are a few free ones that come with it, but I also downloaded several from the website that I liked.

Next comes the fun part- embellishments... you can decorate it however you like.  There are ribbons and buttons, and stitching, and shapes...  When you add in something, you can re-size it and turn it in any direction you want.

The text is also fun to work with.  They have word art, as well as many fonts to choose from.

Once you have finished your project, you need to save & export it.  On the bottom right side in the software there is a tab called "Share Album".  Click on that & export your pages.  Save them as JPEG or your desired format.

To add the header to your blog, click on your layout & then edit your blog header (I use blogger).  Add the image you created instead of the title & description.

Look at your blog to make sure it fits in the space.  If not, you can go back to the image you created & change the pixel size.  You'll also have to re-adjust a few of your embellishments, but it just takes a minute.

Enjoy your lovely new creation!!
