The Carnival of Homeschooling is Here

Welcome to the Carnival of Homeschooling!
I am excited to be able to host this week.  Thanks to everyone who submitted their posts. We had some great entries that I would like to spotlight for you.  I have truly enjoyed being able to read through all of them.   I hope you all enjoy visiting a few new sites and learning from these fellow homeschoolers.

Carnival of Homeschooling

  • Homeschool Dad posts about the First Lego League Scrimmage with numerous video interviews describing the event.  Looks like they had a great time!  I have never attended an event like this- so I  sure learned from it!

  • Tea Time With Annie Kate has a great list of educational gift ideas,  I especially loved her frugal gift  options.

  • No Fighting, No Biting, posted a letter book that she made with her kindergartner.  I think this is just the kind of thing my preschool aged daughter would love!

  • At A Mother's Calling, we learn about Parental Rights & how they are being challenged in our country.  Very interesting article that you won't want to miss!

  • Baby Steps has a wonderful post about Art and Artists- sharing some resources that I will definitely be using. I love the artist journals that they put together!

  • Home School vs. Public School shares a great article called The Expanded Home School Student Experience.  It discusses the way students in home school can direct their learning and expand on the areas that they are most interested in, causing them to find joy in their learning.  Love this philosophy!

  • Corn and Oil shares the similarities between homeschooling in China and in the US. Both have the government worrying about their  children's socialization...

  • Time-4-Learning inspired me with Are you Losing it?  A post about making it through the holidays as homeschoolers.  I think we all need a little encouragement in that area!

  • The host of the Carnival of Homeschooling, Henry, shares his post about Teaching Everything When Homeschooling on his blog Why Homeschool.  I definitely understand where he is coming from!

  • The Tiger Chronicle posts a unit study about the Golden Age of China- the Tang Dynasty- lots of fun ideas!  They made a beautiful clay pot...

  • The Holistic Homeschooler interviews a local homeschooler with her new series The Face of Homeschooling- helping us see how different families homeschool.

  • Studilicious presents the benefits of homeschooling you should know about

  • PJ's All Day posted Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, with ideas, experiments and projects all related to snow and snowflakes.

  • Read Aloud Dad shared the Ultimate Christmas Read Aloud Collection.  I always love new book recommendations!

  • Laura Grace Weldon gave us a thoughtful post titled Let the Youngest Teach You Mindfulness, saying, "Living at a child's pace helps us learn to be in the moment. That's one gift even the youngest child can teach us."

  • At CTK Insights, we have the post Beneath a Stone No Water Flows, "A serendipitous discovery of a great pre-WWII author who - among many other creations - left a collection of memorable aphorism. A sample included."

  • The Golden Papaya brings us Accuracy in Homeschooling, comparing their homeschooling experience with that of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie.

  • Elizabeth Cully gave us the post Too Early? "A rather brief post about early Christmas shopping and a new thought behind it."

That concludes this edition of the Carnival of Homeschooling.  If you would like to submit posts for the next issue to be hosted at Holy Spirit-Led Homeschooling, visit the Blog Carnival site, or the Why Homeschool blog for more info.
